Fam

(Dive Map For Today: Resort=Red, Dives=Yellow)
We had beautiful weather today, the water was calm, sun shining, and visibility great. We went to an area that I had not yet been, around an island called Fam, and it was well worth the 45 minute boat ride. On our way out, we saw three pods of dolphin in the distance, but the all ran quickly with the noise of the boat. The first dive was at Melissa's garden, an amazing dive, with tons of coral and quite a strong current. It was a beautiful reef, bursting at the seams with life, and the coral structures were amazing.

I didn't take many shots on this dive, as there was nothing new, still beautiful and amazing to dive here, but I don't want a stack of photos of the same thing. I did however end up at an anemone with blue tips on white tentacles, with 4 western clown fish in it, so I spent some time shooting them. They were very timid, so I could not get any natural, unaided shots, so Claudia helped me to chase them out into the open so I could get one. They were so jumpy and quick to go back into hiding that only got one.

The second dive was absolutely amazing, it was at a spot called Fam wall, it was a really beautiful and dramatic wall, with amazing coral on it. The dive was really cool, full of great shot opportunities. We started out quite deep, but the real beauty was when we were in the shallows, at about 4 meters. The light rays coming through the surface really give the place great light and amazing colour. I spent most of the dive up in the shallows shooting to get the right settings for the light rays to be in the shots.

I came to another anemone with pink anemone fish in it, so I took several shots, as they do make great subjects. It was a beautiful scene around the anemone, light rays included, so backed away and made several adjustments allowing the camera to capture the entire scene. This marked the end of the dive, so Leon and I surfaced and swam to the boat, about 3 minutes after, the others began to surface, and once they were all up we headed out to an amazing bay to have lunch. This place was stunning, a small cut led into the middle of the island giving us a beautiful basin for our picnic.

After we finished lunch, we went to a site called Fam slope, which didn't have much that interested me, but apparently a group of scientists discovered lots of new species there. I did find some cool stuff to shoot, another anemone with tow western clown anemone fish, some Nudis and other small things. It was a deep dive, but lasted about 40 minutes, though not the most amazing, still beats most places in this world. After the dive, we headed back to the resort where I am now sitting, as the sun goes down.

My final days have begun, and I am not sure I want to leave here, the diving is so amazing, and every day there is something else, the people are all s friendly, and the atmosphere so relaxed, but I am ready to be home. Check back tomorrow for more.
