Not Many Shots Today

(Map For Today: Resort=Red, Dives=Yellow)
Today was very different, meaning that I went diving knowing exactly what I was looking for, so I didn’t get many shots. I did three dives, two day and one night. They were all interesting in their own ways. The first dive was at Yembraimuk, the dive site with the neon anemones, so I went there solely to shoot them. I spent most of the dive at 18 meters taking shot after shot of these vibrant anemones, waiting for a shot in which their inhabitors, the Clark’s anemone fish, would cooperate in. I started out by just shooting the anemone, giving a close look at the shape and colours of it.

I sat in the same spot for a good 15 minutes clicking every time the fish came out of hiding and into my sight. I was very patient and persistent, waiting for them to poke their heads out and stay. After a while, Leon and I got bored, and headed into the shallows of the reef, to go and see what else was on the reef. We swam about, but nothing much else came up that was really shot
worthy, so we surfaced.

After the dive, we headed back to the resort to change out our tanks and get ready for the next dive. As we sped across the water, Nikson saw a fish on the surface, and we turned around to have a look. It was half a grouper that had been freshly killed, we presume by a shark, but it was still bleeding. Nikson picked it up out of the water and brought it back to the resort. All the staff seemed happy, and they cooked it up for lunch.

The second dive of the day was at Yeben, a very nice coral filled site with tons of colour. But I took very few shots; most of them of soft coral, and fans, but it was very similar to many of the other dives. I enjoyed the dive, but there was not much that really caught my eye to take a shot of. After the dive we came back to the resort and hung around for a bit before I went out on a night dive with Nikson.

Nikson and I went out at 7:30 and headed to the Lagoon behind Pef, and did a dive on the sandy, mucky slope. It was very dark and eerie, I kept expecting to see abyssal creatures coming out of the darkness. It was a cool dive none the less, full of funny little creatures, and different scenery.

My last weekend here has ended, and my last week will be action packed, and full of dive so watch this space for more updates. Hope all is well with everyone reading this. We are planing a day trip to a new spot tomorrow, so hopefully I will have some new shots.
